Industry Applications
The Emerson A6500-UM is ideal for upgrading turbine, compressor, pump, and fan monitoring systems. It measures shaft vibration, case vibration, position, speed, and dynamic pressure. In a turbine protection upgrade, one A6500-UM can replace two older single-function cards, cutting wiring and reducing spare part complexity. Its hot-swappable design minimizes downtime during replacement.
Installation and Setup
The A6500-UM installs into an A6500-xR System Rack (3U/6HP slot). The module is hot swappable – no need to power down the rack during replacement. Front and rear buffered and proportional outputs are available, along with 0/4-20mA current output. Configuration is performed via the USB port on the faceplate using a PC/laptop. Ensure the card is properly aligned and that all connectors are seated firmly.
Integration and Communication
Measured signals transmit via the internal RS-485 bus to the A6500-CC Com Card, which converts them to Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP/IP for host computer or analysis system integration. The USB port provides direct PC connection for configuration and visualization. The A6500-UM is fully compatible with the AMS 6500 ATG platform, supporting both new installations and retrofits.
