Installation & Setup
Proper installation ensures accurate measurement. Follow these guidelines:
- Mount the probe with the recommended torque: finger tight for the probe case, with a maximum torque of 0.56 N•m (5 in•lb).
- For connector-to-connector torque on M10X1 probe cases, use 33.9 N•m (300 in•lb) maximum rated and 11.3 N•m (100 in•lb) recommended. For the first three threads, use 22.6 N•m (200 in•lb) maximum and 7.5 N•m (66 in•lb) recommended.
- Maintain a minimum bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) for the cable, with or without stainless steel armor.
- Set the gap to the recommended 1.0 mm (40 mils) from the target for optimal linearity.
- Use field wiring of 0.2 to 1.5 mm² (16 to 24 AWG), with three-conductor shielded triad cable for best results. Maximum field wiring length is 305 meters (1,000 feet) between the Proximitor Sensor and the monitor.
